Executive Charter Services Takes Notice of Carbon Neutral Flying

TerraPass logoWhen we reported on how to make your private jet experience a carbon neutral experience, we suggested buying a TerraPass which would help offset your carbon dioxide emissions by putting your money towards renewable energy projects. We calculated the costs of flying carbon neutral for several different jets in different categories and found that it costs less than 1% of the flying cost per hour to fly carbon neutral. This finding makes flying carbon neutral a no-brainer if you care about the environment (and you should).

Executive Charter ServicesFortunately, a private jet charter company is starting to offset your carbon dioxide emissions for you. Deidre Woolard at Luxist reports that Executive Charter Services, a private jet charter brokerage company, is balancing out the carbon dioxide emissions for clients by purchasing TerraPasses. Executive Charter Services estimates that it will initially offset approximately 500 hours of private jet travel equaling an estimated 1.7 million pounds of carbon emissions.

According to a spokesperson at TerraPass, the private jet chart firm’s decision to offer the TerraPass feature was influenced in part by our carbon neutral post. (Treehugger.com will be happy to hear we’re doing our part.)

“Tackling the environmental issues on a global scale can be intimidating and off-putting. We are offering and easy solution and real opportunity to help our clients be good global citizens.” explains Kevin Godlewski, President of Executive Charter Services. “While private jet travel is an essential part of the corporate climate, we must work together to protect our most important resource.”

We hope that more and more jet companies do the same. If your jet company isn’t doing this yet, remember you can always sign up at TerraPass yourself, even if flying commercial.
